Where did the summer go? The students have returned & it'll be September next week! Wow. It seems like every summer goes by a little more quickly; once I have settled in & adjusted, that's when it's ending. The good news is this is the best time of year for local produce--we still have summer veggies like zucchini, cucumber, and peppers but we also have the beginnings of the fall harvest: cabbage, butternut squash, potatoes, onions, and garlic. It's such a treat to live in a place with the some of the most fertile soil on the planet. I could go on and on about black Iowa dirt. I could also just direct you to this great song from my favorite Iowa musician, Will Whitmore:
Enjoy the music and the veggies, Iowa City. Come let me cook for you.
